The Hounds Below

The Hounds Below, from Detroit, Michigan, features Jason Stollsteimer, formerly of the Von Bondies, along with Ben Collins on guitar, and Ben Luckett on drums.

Bridging a 1950s rock and roll vibe to a modern sensibility of indie pop, the Hounds Below have a distinct sound that is captured in every reverberating note – think Roy Orbison meets Arcade Fire.

The genre-defying songs transition effortlessly through styles. From the extremely poppy, ‘Hey Kids,’ to the hauntingly beautiful, ‘Cumerland’s Crumbin’, each song showcases Stollsteimer’s solid song-writing and wide-ranged vocals.

Last winter, the Hounds Below released their first single, supporting it with tour dates including shows with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Black Angels, the Raveonettes, the Horrors, the Whigs and the Heavy. Following a series of well-received performances at SXSW, the Hounds recorded their stunning debut album, which is expected to be released early next year.
